In the straight-laced forties it was controversial, in the swinging sixties it was sexy and in the current ‘teenies’ it’s a holiday must-have.
Love it or loath it, you can’t deny it - it’s a fashion item that needs to be celebrated which is why we pulled out all the stops to celebrate National Bikini Day on the 5th July.
On this day in 1946 the iconic two-piece was invented. We all love the bikini – from bandeau to triangle, prints to plains, skimpy to supportive – the beach staple is here to stay.
This is why we pulled out all the stops this National Bikini Day and you can now join us in celebrating everything there is to love about the bikini using the hashtag #LoveNBD

in the UK!
Back in the seventies, I bought a white bikini for my holiday. First thing I did when I arrived at my hotel was jump straight into the pool. When I pulled myself out of the water, my bikini was no longer white... it was transparent! You could see EVERYTHING!
I went to a pool party and decided to show off my diving skills. Making sure everyone was watching, I did a spectacular dive. It was only when the lifeguard came over and handed me my bikini top I realised those looks weren’t in admiration for my dive...
Brave that bikini, be confident and enjoy feeling body beautiful all year round.
