We’re not used to the sun here in Britain. It’s like that distant family member we see every now and then at awkward family get-togethers.  So when a warm summer’s day creeps up on us unexpectedly, we frantically reach to the back of our wardrobe for our unloved flip-flops and last year’s summer dress.

As for enjoying the long awaited holiday sun on the beach, we can wear whatever we want because nobody knows us, right? We can stroll along the sandy dunes in skimpy swimwear, making the most of the hot weather whilst we can…right?

Well, as much as we feel empowered having an ‘I-have-no-cares-in-the-world’ attitude, the last thing we want is to morph into a sight for sore eyes in the summer sun! So just follow our tips for summer survival:

And flaunt your figure

Nobody wants to see a builder’s bum

Don’t let your swimwear sit too low

Bandeau is the way to go

Don’t let uneven tan lines ruin your outfit!

Leave something to the imagination 

Thongs belong in your underwear drawer

A face full of makeup will melt in the sun

Stay fresh faced

Save the heels for the dancefloor

Sinking in the sand isn’t a good look!
